Let it shine!

Olive trees and spring flowers at Christmas “Well, the weather outside is ‘delightful’ and inside it feels so ‘frightful’, as the sun is so warm and bright, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine! “…. OK, not quite the words of Michael Buble but it’s an accurate description of the weather here in Puglia at the moment. I can’t believe we are only a couple of days away from Christmas and it is more like a beautiful spring day. Bright blue skies above, and not even a little whisper of a cloud in the sky, creating a warm and very welcoming sun trap in my garden, allowing me to enjoy my lunch alfresco style. Don’t you think food tastes so much better outside? Why is that? Anyway, whilst I sat there feeling the warm rays on my face, I couldn’t help but think of my family and friends back in the UK, feeling all Christmassy in the cool fresh air. For a brief, ok, very brief moment I missed that, but I certainly don’t miss scraping the ice of my car before going to work! Just the festive atmosphere; the cool crisp air, carol songs being played everywhere you go, work Christmas parties and over indulging in Cadbury’s Chocolates.

So here’s to all family and friends, far and near. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! With love from Italy. X
