The stunning white city of Ostuni has so many beautiful bars and restaurants that sometimes it’s difficult to decide where to go. But one winters evening, I stumbled upon Evò bar, which is located in the historical city centre, just off Via Cattedrale and I was instantly impressed.
The exposed stone walls and barrelled ceiling, lured my eyes to the end of the bar, where there was an explosion of colour; an assortment of fresh fruit, vegetables, homemade cupcakes, tarts and other sweet treats. So whether you’re feeling naughty or nice, you could opt for a freshly prepared smoothy, or afternoon tea and cake. Alternatively, you could try their ample aperitivo which contains homemade savoury treats, all of which are in mini form; quiches, tarts, panini, slices of savoury bread, various swirly things etc. They also offer ‘tagliere‘ a selection of sliced meats and cheeses or salads and panini.
What to drink? Besides a large selection of tea and coffee (obviously!), they have an extensive wine and cocktail menu. Choosing a cocktail can be difficult because they all sound so good but the cocktail maker is very easy on the eye, almost as tasty as the cocktails!!!
But the real surprise is below ground in the converted well. Watching your head on the way down and stepping onto the glass floor with the exposed rocks below, may seem a little precarious at first but once you find your feet, the various alcoves and contemporary, quirky seating is a fantastic place to sit and relax with friends. Outdoor seating is also available along the main street (Via Cattedrale) during the summer months.
